Small House Owners of Lie, Murderer’s Ale Found Guilty in Murder of Wife

HOUSE OF LIES, N.Y. — The tiny home owner who helped police arrest a convicted murderer has been convicted of first-degree murder in the death of her former wife’s husband.

The jury returned its verdict Friday on the murder charge in the March 3 death of 59-year-old Mariana Garcia.

She was killed at her home in the town of Stony Brook, New York, with a shotgun.

Her ex-husband, David Garcia, 55, has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors said the pair were married in 2009.

They said that after David Garcia moved out of the home, Mariana began living in a different house.

She returned to her former husband’s house in May and fatally shot him in his garage.

David Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.

David had no prior criminal history.

His wife was a former housekeeper at the house and was in the process of leaving it when she was killed, prosecutors said.
